SANDRA E SEALY – LITERARY ARTIST & CULTURAL EXECUTIVE:
Sandra E Sealy is a Barbadian-Canadian multi-genre writer of British birth. This poet, mentor, podcaster, blogger and cultural storyteller’s work spans literature, education, film and the creative industries. Fondly described by acclaimed griot Kamau Brathwaite as “Sandra the Princess of Chichén Itzà”, the author of Chronicles Of A Seawoman: A Collection Of Poems (Frank Collymore Literary Endowment Honorary Mention) also released Beauty Of The Bald Head: The Jazzy Spoken-Word CD Single.
Solid cultural administration experience, like being a former Literary Arts Officer for the National Cultural Foundation of Barbados, has been built across disciplines beyond the literary arts.
She has earned numerous awards including NIFCA, the Irving Burgie Scholarship as well as recognition further afield. Sandra’s poetry and storytelling have been anthologized widely, adapted into film and music and shared through blogging, podcasting and international literary initiatives supporting Caribbean writers. Her commitment to uplifting the under-represented literary artists of her region, created dynamic online fora like the Caribbean Writers group birthed from her blog, that Sandra founded in 2007 and, earning her a reputation as a “literary influencer”.
